Parlour Made

Soft and hard cheese

All our cheeses are made on our farm using our own milk.

Village Farm Dairy is set in 240 acres near Sedgefield, County Durham, a family farm run by Neil & Carol Peacock. The dairy herd consists of 120 Holstein/Friesian cows all of which were all born on the farm. The family are passionate about herd welfare which ensures consistent high quality milk and every cow is known by name and family history.

After many years of extensive research and planning Neil & Carol decided to diversify into handmade artisan cheese made using their own farm assured milk. The fresh morning’s milk is piped no further than 20 feet from the milking parlour into the cheese vat in the new purpose build cheese dairy, where cheesemaking begins.

All of the cheeses are fully traceable with handling and packing done on the farm – the only food miles are incurred at delivery stage.

Carol has spent most of her career teaching cookery as well as helping out on the farm. She attended agricultural College in Cheshire to learn the art of cheesemaking under the expert eye of Christine Ashby and has spent many years since perfecting her cheeses.

This is very much a family business – Neil and Son Joe milk the cows , Carol makes the cheese.
