Low Carbon Lifestyle – Episode 29 There is a whole new language that comes with electric vehicles, this video helps to explain the jargon you might have heard when people talk EVs.
With any major disruption to how we live, we start to talk in a new language, to the outsider, this can seem like a barrier, a hurdle to overcome before joining the club. If you had asked any of us what ‘R rate’, ‘social distancing’, ‘Lateral Flow’, ‘Test and Trace’, ‘Herd immunity’ or ‘Barnard Castle eye test’ meant 18 months ago we might have struggled.
I think it is similar for electric vehicles, we might not know the detail of how an internal combustion engine works, but we all generally understand how to talk about one, but looking at different charger types, trying to decipher range and battery capacity, translate to MPG, or what Regenerative braking is (or how to say it) we have to think a bit harder.
I decided to make a video that tries to explain all the EV jargon for everyone to understand.
What do you think? Is there anything I have missed? What else don’t you understand about the new language around electric vehicles? Feel free to comment on the video and I will do my best to answer.
